Lord Jesus, Mighty Warrior and Prince of
Peace, through the intercession of
St. Michael and
Our Lady of Victory,
we pray for the protection of our loved ones
who are called to serve
in time of war.
By Your grace, O Lord, may they be strong and
of good courage, and also by Your grace, may we, who are at home, renounce
all anxiety and fear.
We place our trust fully in Your Most Merciful
Heart and wait in hope. For though they walk through the shadow of the
Valley of Death, we pray they fear no evil, for You are with them.
Grant a decisive and just end to this war,
lasting peace for all nations, and a safe return home for our loved ones.
Amen

We offer prayers for
Philip Johnson, a young Navy officer and seminarian to the Catholic
priesthood. He is suffering from inoperable brain cancer. The tumor
cannot be removed. It is growing in the portion of his brain that
controls motor skills and sensation. He has been taking chemo for
the past 15 months and just finished his first year at St. Charles
Seminary. Unfortunately, recent tests upon returning to North
Carolina reveal that one area of the tumor has begun to grow. "I
will begin a treatment of three drugs that are currently being
researched to treat brain cancer....Two of them are harsh with very
unpleasant side effects, and there are significant risks of internal
bleeding and blood clots when taking them. If I respond to the
initial treatments, I will receive these IV injections every other
week for the next year. My bishop has released me from my original
Summer parish assignment in Wilmington, and instead has given me the
'assignment' to pray for the Church and diocese while undergoing
treatments. I will likely be living at the Sacred Heart parish
rectory in Dunn, NC for much of the Summer, at the kind invitation
of Fr. Parkerson, to be close to my friends and family. I ask you to
please pray for me as I begin these treatments, and that my health
will permit me to return to the seminary in the Fall. Please be
assured of my prayers for you all as well!” Mother Mary, please
comfort and sustain this beautiful son who loves and serves your Son
